Sewa Day 2017

24th September 2017 by Hindu Forum Walsall

Walsall Team Hosts and Organizes four different Projects for Sewa 2017.

This year has been a great success, delivering four projects that directly made a difference to the community  we live in. We worked with Organization’s such as Canal & River Trust, Sewa International and Walsall Council, Shree Ram Mandir (Walsall). Projects designed involved feeding the Homeless, the most in need and cleaning a section of canal in Walsall.

Without question everyone does their bit to help, the community, environment and help those who need a little helping hand. Sewa Day is a great purpose in that it allows us to work together across the different pockets within out community and achieve and do a greater good for all. Please continue the great efforts of giving something back to the community we live in, and join us again for Sewa 2018.

A very big thank you to the community to donating so much food, clothes, toiletries and all the volunteers for their time

29TH Sept 2017 Langar Seva – Birmingham

Midland Langar Seva Society reserved a time from 6-7.00pm on Friday 29th Sept to serve food to the homeless and needy. around 7 Volunteers joined the langar to help serve food and light refreshments. 150+ people used the location to get basic food and clothes on the day.

1st Oct 2017 Canal Clean Up – Walsall

Working with Canal & River Trust to clean some of the stretch of canal that runs through Pleck Walsall. 45 Volunteers helped between 10.30 – 12.00pm. Pulling rubbish from the canal,  litter picking and tidy up the tow path and bushes. Fantastic turnout, considering the short notice, and the scare we had earlier in the day of rain. Young & Old people across the community worked hard together to make a real difference, 65+ bags of rubbish were filled, leaving a good half mile stretch a cleaner state than it was. Brilliant achievement.

Meeting place Wellington St, Pleck, Walsall, WS2 9QR

On the success of raising so much food and essential toiletries we helped the Homeless and most needy in Walsall, lots of food, toiletries, and essentials were raised to help the Rock Church Walsall (Black Country Food Bank) and Mayfield Centre Caldmore (Homeless feed). Our gratitude and many thanks to Shree Ram Mandir, Pleck Walsall. WS2 9BW, for allowing the food collection to be dropped off and stored there over the last few weeks.
